Who is Earl Boykins, anyway?

A friend pointed out that not everyone will know who Earl Boykins is. What?! How could you people not know?!

In the interest of some basic context, here's how our pup's name came to be...

Initially, when the idea of getting a dog was just an idea, Quan and I liked to imagine silly names for dogs. Our consistent list included Slim Goodbody, Super Poncho, Rerun, and Baloney. Occasionally, we would also include names like Mark, Greg, Steve...Human names that would be silly when dropped onto a dog.

One night, while watching the Celtics play the Nuggets on tv, I noticed a very short man on the court. Very short. "Quan, who is that little man who plays for Denver?" "Oh, that's Earl Boykins. He's a point guard." Whoa.

According to the Denver Nuggets Web site, Earl Boykins is 5'5''. He's that small and he plays professional basketball.

How cool is that? Additonally, his last name is really fun to say. (Seriously. Say it out loud to yourself. It's FUN. Like bucket.) Soon, Earl Boykins (or just Boykins) found a home on our running list of dog names. When we saw our first pictures of our girl, we just knew she was our Boykins!
